HEINZFEST - July 20th, 2008
Yes, on Sunday, July 20th 2008 we had a wonderful party for our Father's 80th
birthday. He is such an incredible man. He has done so much for us boys through
his entire life. It was a great feeling to be able to give a little something
back. MORE PICS Home
People came from all over to attend the party. Dad saw some of his old friends
that were very close when he first came to Canada in the fifties. Some he hadn't
seen for ten years, since his 70th birthday party. And there were all of his
friends from the golf course, and all his other friends that he sees now. All
in all there were about 80 people at the event.
The party was held at the Eagles Hall on Fern Crescent in Maple Ridge. There
was lots of room inside, and also outside for people to get together and laugh,
chat, reminisce. The weather was warm and dry, not too hot, just perfect for
the event. Art and Betty Schupp from Langley brought their special band and
played German folk music through the entire event.
So many people helped organize the event. Andrew rented the hall. He also bought
special beer mugs with the emblem 'HEINZFEST' engraved on the glass. Along with
the emblem was a drawing of a crazy, German-like Viking. Great job Andrew. He
ordered several kegs of German beer. And a big thank you to those who helped
serve the beer behind the bar.
Mike and Crystal organized the food. They were able to find a special German
menu, European sausages, Bavarian sausages, special potato mix, and how they
were able to duplicate the 'rote-cole' (red cabbabe) I don't know, but they
made it just like we always had it at our special family dinners. Thank you
to all those who helped prepare and serve the food.
Thank you to all those who came to the event. Here are some photos that I took.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to get everyone's picture, but others did take photos
and we will try to get more on the site: MORE
